Codes of Faith
Opportunity Description
International Deadline: 23th of November 2017
Time to Change the World
Following on from the incredible success of last year’s show, Codes of Faith, Laura I. Gallery is calling once again for artists to submit work that passionately addresses the themes of Faith and God.
As I’m sure you are aware, there currently isn’t anything like this right now in the UK, and following the dreadful terrorist attacks in London, Manchester and Paris, we want to stand courageous in the face of adversity, bringing people together through powerful art that deals with the importance of unity and diversity, and underlies that no one should feel fear in their community.
ABOUT
Last year’s exhibition, a collaboration with the University Of East London, inspired thousands of people of all faiths and nationalities and sent a positive message of hope that embraces humanity.
This year we plan to make it even bigger and better. We want people to submit work that showcases how they envision God, or Faith, or which are generated or inspired by their own religious beliefs.
All approaches to addressing these themes are not only welcomed, but encouraged. Work may be representative, interactive or narrative provided it depicts your own personal beliefs and can express your own religion, the fact that you are a non-believer, your own strong commitment to faith, or your personal search for it.
Faith is a result of personal experience and with the support of Barking and Dagenham council, alongside the many faith based organizations involved in the exhibition, we hope people will embrace the diversity of opinions and cultures represented in a spirit of unity and peace, promoting on-going friendship and harmony in spite of our differences.
ELIGIBILITY
This opportunity is open to everyone above the age of 18 from any nationality and culture. The only limitation is that entries must represent original works addressing in some considerable way the theme of faith or God. All media and genre of visual art are eligible (abstract, narrative, realism, conceptual, etc) besides video.
