Oil on canvas
Inspired by the city of Venice in Italy, this shows that we should not ruin our cities with pollution and wastes. I used umbrellas as the main subject because umbrellas are often blown away and left on the streets or canals.

This works talks about the future of the world where everything has been destroyed by the ocean caused by the melted ice caps and all the things we love to do has been drifted away. Another interpretation about this work is how we have grown from being a child into an adult, therefore, watching our childhood memories being swept away.

The calm scenery of the lagoon city, above the land, shows the present life of Venice going on as normal slowly becoming modernized. While under the canal shows all of the ancient buildings sunk to the bottom of the canals being forgotten which creates awareness that we should not change our buildings too much as it changes the atmosphere of the city.

"Differ to my landscapes, horses. This relates to the present, our current situation where the NHS
are fighting so hard against the pandemic coronavirus and shielding our cities from harm. The
horses represent the NHS as strong warriors risking their lives to fight the virus around the world,
every day to keep humanity safe. I painted this idea to show how doctors and nurses have been
globally affected while fighting this war (as well as businesses and companies) therefore creates
a powerful image towards others that we should obey the rules to lower the dangers of the virus."

The bridge shows a way out to repair the damage and its green waves of the rivers act as a cleanser trying to remove pollution and purifying the city with its friendly nature, therefore, keeping the city greener.

Description:
In the present, the world is facing the effects of global warming where human beings are unaware of this and continue to contaminate the environment. Experiencing from personal life, ‘Smoke’ presents the streets of Paris and the River Seine being polluted with waste material, therefore, ruining the beauty of Paris as well as eroding the architectural statues of the Arc de Triomphe. The neutral colours are used to create the atmosphere of the tainted city and the palette knife effect creates a realistic smoke surrounding the Eiffel Tower and Louvre to show they are rusted with dirt by the smoke. Will this be the prolonged future of Paris?
